What it is

At your first visit we look at how you stand, walk and move, where things get stuck and what limits you in everyday life. From that we build a plan of active exercise, hands-on techniques and self-help advice.

The aim is that you can move more safely and independently. How quickly that happens varies a lot from person to person, so we agree on realistic steps instead of big promises.

Who it’s for

  • after surgery, e.g. on the knee, hip or shoulder
  • for back and neck problems
  • after injuries such as torn ligaments or fractures
  • for posture and movement problems
  • if you feel unsteady when walking or have balance problems

Your doctor decides which treatment is right for you – we are happy to advise as well.

How a session goes

  1. Talk & assessment

We ask about your symptoms, history and goals and test mobility, strength and balance.

  2. Treatment

Active exercise, mobilisation and – where it makes sense – techniques to loosen tight muscles.

  3. Exercises for home

You take 2–4 exercises home, as a printout with drawings if you like.

  4. Check progress

We regularly review what has changed and adjust the plan. If the prescription asks for a therapy report, your doctor gets one at the end.

Duration & frequency

With statutory insurance a session is 15–25 minutes of actual treatment time. Allow about 30 minutes including getting changed.

Usually 6 sessions are prescribed, often 1–2 per week.

Do I need a prescription?

  • Statutory insurance: yes, always. The prescription (Heilmittelverordnung) will say “KG” or “Krankengymnastik”.
  • Private insurance: you usually need a doctor’s prescription (Privatrezept) to get reimbursed.
  • No prescription: possible as a self-paying patient with our practice owner, who holds a limited practitioner licence for physiotherapy (sektoraler Heilpraktiker).
